Program will include the Light Cavalry Overture by von Suppe; In Memoriam by Douglas Anderson (see below); the Sinfonia Concertante, K. 364 by Mozart (Robert Haley and Emil Curatolo, soloists); and Symphony No. 7 by Dvorak. 8:00 p.m., and FREE!
April 29, 2018: Douglas Anderson conducts the Putnam Chorale in its spring concert, featuring Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes, both sets, Opus 52 and Opus 65. Venue tba.
February 24, 2018: Douglas Anderson’s music will be featured together with works by Joyce Solomon Moorman, Quentin Angus, and J.D. Parran on the annual BMCC Composers Now concert. On the concert will be four of Anderson’s songs: Nora’s Scene; Two ‘Erotic’ Songs, and Paul Bunyon Mourns for Babe the Ox. Singing will be Margaret Astrup and Charles Samuel Brown, accompanied by Mark Victor Smith on piano. 3:00 pm, Shirley Fiterman Gallery, 245 Greenwich Street in Manhattan. Free!
March 21, 2018: Douglas Anderson’s moving In Memoriam will be performed on a concert by the BMCC Downtown Symphony, in honor of life of his recently deceased colleague at BMCC, Prof. Charles McGill.
Spring-Summer 2018: Douglas Anderson has been in the studio with several soloists, recording his solo instrumental works for release in August 2018. Recording is done, editing is underway. Stay tuned!
